FAQ

FAQ

Q: Do you prefer Natural or Studio Lighting?
A: For Commercial Headshots I prefer a natural outdoor location with just enough flash to make some great catchlights in your eyes. For Theatical I prefer in studio for more control over dramatic shadows.

Q: What should I wear for for my Headshot Session?
A:  Avoid wearing patterns, large bold stripes, and logos because they will become a distraction. Avoid wearing large earrings and pendants...again. these will cause a distraction. Solid colors are always the best choice, something that will compliment your eyes. Bring a minimum of two clothing changes. For other Sessions it is recommended that we have a consultation for the best results.

Q: How should I wear my hair?
A: For guys it's not too much of an issue. You can create two looks by showing up with no gel and then applying gel later in the shoot. For the ladies, wear your hair as if you were going to an audition but bring something to create a secong look. If you are having a Theatrical Headshot and needing a few character shots, include what's necessary to achieve the looks of your character.

Q: Should I hire a Make-Up Artist/Stylist?
A: If you plan on doing your own make-up...don't over do it! Professional cameras will detect discolorations within your skin and a Make-Up/Stlist will know how to conceal it. A Make-Up Artist will know what colors will look best for you and will also know what colors will look best if you are needing Black and White Theatrical Headshots. Also a Make-Up Artist is very benefical if are are needing Character shots. Make-up is not recommended for ages 13 and under but a Make-Up/Stylist can greatly help with reducing facial shine and hair styling to achieve a certain look.

Q: Can I recommend a Make-Up Artist/Stylist?
A: Of course! I have worked with many different Make-Up Artist/Stylist and can recommend one that is specific for what kind of Headshot you are needing. Many offer a discounted rate if I hire them directly.

Q: What about Re-Touching ?
A: I am a fantastic Re-Toucher but will must follow the specific format of your Headshot. For Commercial and Theatrical Headshots, it must be kept to a bare minimum. You don't want to walk into your casting call not looking like your Headshot. As a rule of thumb, I will remove any temporary blemishes, stray hairs, minimize under eye darkening caused by certain lighting. The eyes that you see in my Headshots are not re-touched, it's a careful blend camera aperture, flash direction and reflectors to make those eyes jump right off right off the print. For Pageant Headshots there are still formats and standards that must be followed and will be re-touched accordingly. For Promotional shots, the sky is the limit.

Q: When do I need to update my Headshot?
A: If your hair changed in length or color it is recomended to update. If you have lost or gained significate weight, it is recommended. If you have had a "nip & tuck" since your last heashot, it is recommended. For children it is recommended to update every 6 months due to their rapidly changing appearance.

Q: Can you help with poses and expressions?
A: I sure can! I have a few tricks up my sleeve to help you bring out those expressions that define you. I will guide you through poses that have been effective and has landed roles.

Q: What is your schedule like?
A: I am a full-time Professional Photographer so I can accomodate just about any time of day that suits your schedule best.
